A Message from the Post Office

Worthy travelers,

I have an interesting train of thought
that I would like to share…

What if everything were quite different from what you truly imagined?

What if the story of Fian and the white wolf, queen of the north, began like this:

Fian and the white queen of the north stood face-to-face while his glassy eyes slowly darkened. Her claws were buried deep in his throat, and red blood flowed down his sides on the green moss.

She whispered softly into his ear: “I claim the tribute and take your soul-debt upon myself. By the moon, I will be by your side and protect your soul.” His body slowly went limp within her grasp. The last thing he perceived was her warm breath upon his face. Then, the world went dark.

A heartbeat later, he stood face-to-face with her in the light of his fire  and watched as the white wolf. … Her eyes were glowing like frozen glass while she took in his scent deeply before simply walking away. He only saw her majesty, and he knew he was meant to be the tribute, but yet, she had spared him. He looked up at the silvery, shining moon and felt an incredible sense of freedom bestowed upon him.

He sat by the fire for a long time, gazing in the direction where she had vanished into the mist like flowing water. Likewise, he had looked deep into those glowing eyes and touched eternity. And he was one of those destined to sing this tale – for there was no other way to explain it…

And now I ask you, travelers…

What if…

… Fian had never lied?
… he had been singing the truth all along?
… It was merely his interpretation that was off?
… It was her task to go to the tavern?

Maybe you should read the stories by the fire once more. For some time, the truth does not hide between the lines. And sometimes, well, yes, the truth stands right out in the open. Or you ignore this idea… it is up to you to decide to find a new beginning at the truth of the forest.

It is just a thought, nothing more, nothing less.
