How to read the Lore of Mistwood

Hello friends,

Your questions show that there was some confusion about how and why this beautiful place is the way it is… And yes, it’s true—this place *is* strange:
I didn’t want to build an ever-expanding world outward; instead, I took the opposite approach:

I deepen the meaning or interpretation of the existing stories with every new one.

If you’re looking for a world that constantly grows in physical scale, with heros and a bunch of monsters, you won’t find it here. But for those who enjoy reading and exploring, I’ll let you in on a big secret: all the stories can be read in a “polygonal” manner —meaning in any order—with the exception of stories marked “Part 1” and “Part 2.” Those were simply too long, so I split them into two separate stories. That doesn’t mean, however, that the framing narrative of Part one or two might not contain a hidden clue revealing something new about the Mistwood Forests.

This means that whatever you read—whether sequentially, side-by-side, in parallel, backwards, forwards, or even in random order—can change the point of view. New information sometimes adds fascinating new layers of meaning to older tales:

For instance, if you wondered why she first drove her claw into Fian’s leg outside the tavern (this is crucial), only to gently place her paw on his shoulder once inside:

There is a good reason for that, which is explained in detail in the subsequent story:

she really messed things up with the hunt itself, and now she has to live with the consequences of her decisions—decisions that were entirely her right to make! By the way, the details of exactly what went wrong aren’t in the written texts; you can hear the story in the song “The Truth about the Forest,” starting at the 4-minute mark 🙂

Spoiler: *The Furry Way of Folk* is more than just Irish folk music for furries…

And now, with these “reading recommendation”, have fun, and welcome, to the lores of the Mistwood Forest.

One last point about “EWWW AI” – I translated these stories on my own – the orginial stories are all hand crafted and written with a txt editor without any help of AI, you can find the original stories uploaded at home:
