Who is Vela?

“When the Mistwood Forest whisper, a great hunter, one who has heeded the call of the wood, will descend from the mountains. Vela, the Huntress of the North, is among those who can hear this call; she conscientiously upholds the Law of Claw and Fang, acting with both reverence and majesty before the powers of eternity, and ensuring the laws of the forest are carried out within the eternal dance of coming into being and passing away. When her name is spoken, she descends to claim the ‘red tribute’—as described in ancient songs and laws—doing so with humility, and entirely devoid of wrath, rage, or self-interest.”

The Enforcer of the Eternal Dance

In the ancient tales and songs of the Mistwood Forest, Vela is not portrayed as an ordinary hunter, but rather as a force of nature. When the forest whispers and the balance demands it, she leaves the rugged mountain peaks to emerge within the shadows of the mist-shrouded woods. For the forest’s inhabitants, her arrival is not a cause for blind panic, but a moment of profound awe before the immutable laws of nature. She serves as the incorruptible scale in the eternal dance of creation and dissolution.

The Code of Claw and Fang

What distinguishes Vela from common predators is her state of mind. She does not kill out of greed, vengeance, or for pleasure. When she claims the red tribute, she does so as a sacred duty. Her actions are entirely free from wrath, rage, or personal gain. She executes the Law of Claw and Fang with absolute humility before the powers of eternity. Every step she takes, and every strike she delivers, serves as an act of obeisance to the cycle of life.
